Report of workshop on
Homoeopathy for Healthy Mother & Happy Child
North District

The  campaign on Homoeopathy for Healthy Mother & Happy Child in North district  was launched by Sh. Virender Kumar ,Addl Director, Dte. of ISM & Homoeopathy  and Dr. R. K. Manchanda , Deputy Director (H) on 22/2/11 in the Conference Hall  of Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital. Sh. Virender Kumar welcomed all worthy guests &  participants in the launch ceremony which was presided over by Dr. Eswara Das  (Consultant Advisor,GOI). Dr. A.K.Sikdar (M.S, Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital) and Dr.  Vineet Harneja (Addl. CDMO,NZ) were the guests of honours.

Dr.  Vineet Harneja gave a brief introduction about NRHM & role of AYUSH in the  whole set up. He also talked about the benefits of co- existence of Homoeopathy  with Modern medicine at PHC levels. He emphasized the role of ASHA in NRHM  & how they can contribute in spreading awareness about AYUSH in mother  & child care.

The  workshop was attended by 105 delegates which included Obstetricians,  paediatricians, M.O’s, RCH doctors, Homoeopathic practitioners from Govt.,  NGO’s private sectors. The objective of the workshop was to sensitize the  diverse participants about the benefits of Homoeopathy in maternal & child  health.

The  inaugural session was followed by 2 scientific sessions.

In  the first session:

  • Dr. Eswara  Das. described the role of this campaign in public health. He talked about  using the AYUSH task force effectively in NRHM with the aim of reducing  maternal and child mortality together with modern system of medicine. He also  shed light on various grants provided by GOI for opening of AYUSH setup in  allopathic hospitals. 
  • Dr Anita  Sharma (Asst director) CCRH discussed the pivotal role of CCRH in the  initiation and implementation of the campaign and various researches carried  out globally and in India in the domain of mother and child care.

In  the second session: 

  • Dr Kusum Chand  (Consultant, NHMC) discussed the role of homoeopathy in integrated management  of childhood illnesses. She cited many cases of various childhood illnesses  treated effectively through homoeopathy. 
  • Dr V.K Chauhan  described the merits of homoeopathy in various obstetric cases. 
  • Dr R.K  Manchanda talked about symbiosis of Homoeopathy and allopathy in Primary health  care units.
